Explore the Amazon Spheres

Designed by NBBJ, the Spheres feature a pentagonal hexecontahedron structure, comprising 2,643 panes of glass supported by a steel framework. The largest sphere stands at 90 feet tall and 130 feet in diameter, providing an expansive space filled with diverse plant life.

While primarily intended for Amazon employees, the Spheres offer limited public access through the “Understory” exhibit, located at the base of the structure. This exhibit provides insights into the design, engineering, and plant life within the Spheres. Public tours are available on select Saturdays each month and require advance registration.

I don’t know when I started to love pho. I guess it was probably during my visit to Ho Chi Minh City when I had a bowl of authentic local pho. While Seattle’s Vietnamese culinary scene extends well beyond pho, that aromatic noodle soup remains the dish most closely associated with the cuisine. A typical bowl consists of steamy broth—cooked low and slow, usually clear yet infused with rich flavors from animal bones and highly fragrant spices like star anise and cinnamon—brimming with meat, fresh vegetables, and rice noodles. In my mind, the first Vietnamese restaurant I fell in love with is PHO EVER in Bellevue.
