The island is home to pristine, picture-perfect beaches, each with its own charm. Whether you’re looking for secluded hideaways with powdery white sand, crystal-clear turquoise waters, or lively beach bars with spectacular sunsets, Phu Quoc has it all. Imagine stepping onto Sao Beach, where the soft sand feels like flour beneath your feet, or discovering Starfish Beach, where the shallow waters are dotted with bright red starfish.
With so many incredible shorelines to explore, I’ve narrowed it down to three of the most breathtaking beaches you simply cannot miss on your trip to Phu Quoc.

Starfish Beach (Rạch Vẹm)
Starfish Beach is a hidden gem in the north of Phu Quoc, famous for its clear shallow waters and the red starfish that can be seen resting on the sandy seabed. This tranquil beach is perfect for relaxing, taking stunning photos, and enjoying fresh seafood at floating restaurants. The peaceful surroundings and local fishing village vibe make it a unique destination compared to the more touristy beaches on the island.
海星海灘是富國島北部的一顆隱藏的寶石，以其清澈的淺水和在沙質海床上休息的紅色海星而聞名。這個寧靜的海灘非常適合放鬆、拍攝美麗的照片以及在水上餐廳享用新鮮的海鮮。與島上遊客較多的海灘相比，寧靜的環境和當地漁村氛圍使這裡成為一個獨特的目的地。
Things to note
- Best Time to Visit: December to April, when the sea is clear and calm.
- Protect the Starfish: Avoid touching or removing them from the water, as this can harm them.
- Limited Facilities: There are a few small beachside restaurants, but bring essentials like sunscreen and water.
- Road Conditions: The road to the beach is bumpy and unpaved, so renting a motorbike with good tires, hiring a car, or take a grab is recommended.
- Notify Staff for Return Trip: When you’re ready to leave, inform the nearby staff or boat operators, as they will arrange a boat for your return. Otherwise, you may have to wait longer for a ride back.
- Plan a Relaxed Itinerary: The travel time to and from Starfish Beach is quite long, so avoid packing your schedule with too many activities on the same day. It’s best to allocate enough time to fully enjoy the beach—I personally didn’t plan for this and regretted not staying longer!

How to Get There
1. By Road to Rạch Vẹm Fishing Village:
- From Duong Dong Town, take a motorbike, taxi, or private car to Rạch Vẹm Fishing Village, about 25 km away (45–60 minutes).
- The last part of the journey is a bumpy dirt road, so a car or an experienced motorbike rider is recommended.
2. By Boat to Starfish Beach:
- Once you arrive at the fishing village, you will need to buy a boat ticket to reach the starfish beach.
- Tickets can be purchased directly at the village, and prices vary depending on the boat type and distance.
1. 要搭車前往 Rạch Vẹm 漁村：
從 Duong Dong Town 搭乘摩托車、計程車或私家車前往約 25 公里（45-60 分鐘）的 Rạch Vẹm 漁村。

As the longest beach on Phu Quoc, stretching 20 km along the west coast, Long Beach is the best spot to watch stunning sunsets. The beach has a mix of relaxing areas and lively beachfront bars, making it perfect for both peace-seekers and social travelers.
長灘是富國島最長的海灘，沿著西海岸綿延 20 公里，是觀賞美麗日落的最佳地點。海灘上設有休閒區和熱鬧的海濱酒吧，是尋求平靜的人們和社交旅行者的理想去處。
Things to Note
- Best Time to Visit: November to April, when the weather is dry, and the sea is calm.
- Ticket Required for Some Areas: While some sections of Long Beach are public, many beachfront resorts and beach clubs charge an entrance fee if you want to access their private areas, use sunbeds, or enjoy their facilities.
- Lively Atmosphere: The northern part of Long Beach is more vibrant, with beach bars, restaurants, and night markets, while the southern part is quieter and better for relaxation.
- Great for Sunsets, Not Sunrises: Since Long Beach faces the west, it’s one of the best places to watch the sunset on Phu Quoc, but you won’t be able to see the sunrise here.

- 部分區域需要門票：雖然長灘的部分區域是公共的，但如果要進入私人區域、使用日光浴床或享受設施，許多度假村和海灘俱樂部都會收取入場費。

How to Get There
- Long Beach is only 10 minutes from Phu Quoc International Airport and very close to Duong Dong Town, making it one of the most accessible beaches on the island.

Sao Beach (Bãi Sao)
Sao Beach is one of the most beautiful and famous beaches on Phu Quoc Island, known for its soft, powdery white sand and crystal-clear turquoise waters. The calm, shallow sea makes it perfect for swimming, sunbathing, and paddleboarding. Surrounded by lush green hills, the beach offers a secluded paradise where you can truly unwind.
In addition to its natural beauty, Sao Beach is also a great place for water activities. Visitors can enjoy kayaking, jet skiing, paddleboarding, and banana boat rides. If you’re looking for a bit more adventure, you can also rent a boat for snorkeling tours in the nearby waters.
白海灘是富國島最美麗、最著名的海灘之一，他以柔軟的白色沙灘和清澈碧綠的海水而聞名。平靜而淺的海水非常適合游泳、日光浴和劃槳衝浪。海灘周圍環繞著鬱鬱蔥蔥的綠色山丘，為您提供一個可以真正放鬆身心的僻靜天堂。

Highlands Coffee
After a fun day at the beach, you can stop by the Highlands Coffee nearby to grab a refreshing Vietnamese iced coffee (cà phê sữa đá) or a signature milk tea while enjoying the ocean breeze.
在海灘度過有趣的一天後，可以去附近的 Highlands Coffee 喝一杯清爽的越南冰咖啡 (cà phê sữa đá) 或招牌奶茶，同時享受海風。

- Can Get Crowded: Sao Beach is very popular, so arriving early in the morning is recommended for a more peaceful experience.
- No Sunset Views, But a Stunning Sunrise: Since Sao Beach is located on the eastern side of Phu Quoc, you won’t be able to see the sunset here. However, if you’re an early riser, it’s one of the best places on the island to watch the sunrise over the ocean. Arriving early not only gives you a spectacular view but also ensures a more serene and crowd-free experience.
- Nearby Coffee Spot: If you need a break from the sun, Highlands Coffee is a great place to relax and cool down with a refreshing drink.

Overall
Phu Quoc Island is truly a beach lover’s paradise, offering a variety of stunning coastlines, each with its own charm. Whether you’re looking for adventure, relaxation, or breathtaking scenery, these three beaches provide something special:
- Sao Beach (Bãi Sao) – The most breathtaking white sand and turquoise waters, perfect for swimming and enjoying water activities.
- Long Beach (Bãi Trường) – The best place for sunsets, beachside bars, and vibrant nightlife.
- Starfish Beach (Rạch Vẹm) – A unique and tranquil experience with crystal-clear waters and red starfish.
While all three beaches are worth visiting, Sao Beach was my personal favorite. The incredible soft white sand, calm crystal-clear water, and peaceful surroundings made it feel like a true paradise. Plus, the nearby Highlands Coffee made the experience even more enjoyable.
If you’re planning a trip to Phu Quoc, make sure to allocate enough time for each beach, especially Sao Beach, so you can fully immerse yourself in the beauty and serenity of this tropical island. No matter which beach you choose, you’re guaranteed an unforgettable experience in one of Vietnam’s most beautiful destinations.
